Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society of North Carolina
The Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society of North Carolina/Piedmont-Triad (AAHGS) is a local organization dedicated to promoting research, study, and publication of history and genealogy of Americans, with particular interest in persons of African descent.
AAHGS-NC/Piedmont-Triad conducts bi-monthly meetings which include speakers, workshops, seminars, and networking with other members. Members attend regularly scheduled trips to Local Family Centers and receive assistance with their research projects. Also, they participate in organized research trips to various Local, Regional and National Archives.
AAHGS members often network with persons researching the same geographical areas and the same families. For many, this is the most rewarding and exciting aspect of AAHGS membership.
